About this role

Quality Engineer is responsible for quality assurance analysis of new and existing programs at all manufacturing stages to ensure the quality of their production meets engineering drawings and specifications. Support the company goals of Zero Defects and 100% On-Time Delivery within IATF16949 certified quality management system. Ensure good communication between associates, company and its customers, including periodic trips to customer location.

Other essential functions include but are not limited to the following:

  • Create Quality Alerts, and communicate to all applicable personnel, training as needed;
  • Create, lead, and aid in investigation of Corrective Action Reports (8d’s);
  • Assist in control plan creation, updating;
  • FMEA updating and periodic review of ratings;
  • Assist in PPAP documentation, with close communication with customer;
  • Customer communication, specifically complaints or other concerns, with visits to customer locations when needed;
  • Perform and analyze capability studies;
  • Complete Layouts and testing on parts for PPAP, Problem Solving, etc.;
  • Establish, monitor and follow-up on required product testing as required by customer, internal, and bench-marking requirements, to assure product/design intent, function, and integrity;
  • Ongoing testing of parts (Functional, Dimensional, Physical properties, etc.);
  • Participate in cross functional teams in the pursuit of problem solving and mistake proofing quality problems;
  • Assist with preparation and participation for customer surveys resulting in desired approvals;
  • Develop visual standard system criteria for use in manufacturing operations;
  • Responsible for following all internal and OSHA required safety procedures;
  • Communicate production and quality issues/concerns with associates and supervision whenever necessary;
  • Maintain high standards of housekeeping in respective areas;
  • Track and report quality metrics; analyze quality data to evaluate the effectiveness of current processes or proposed changes;
  • Promote and maintain a culture and attitude of continuous improvement;
  • Verify processes running within documented process parameters;
  • Verify process using correct material and document lot traceability;
  • Able to write routine reports and correspondence;
  • Able to speak effectively before groups of customers or associates of the organization;
  • Able to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form;
  • Assist Shift Supervisors, as needed, to communicate Quality Standards and/or Quality Alerts and train team members to adhere to policies and procedures related to quality;
  • Create and promote a team environment, assist in training as needed through the quality department;
  • Maintains adherence to company policies, safety/ergonomic standards, culture and good housekeeping practices;
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor(s).

About you

Required Education and Experience:

  • Associate’s degree (A.A.) in a related area preferred; or two to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience is required;
  • A minimum of 3 years of Quality, Manufacturing, or Process Engineering experience required; a suitable combination of education and experience will also be considered;
  • Communication skills, written and oral;
  • Effective problem solving skills;
  • Regular travel is required for this position, including overnight travel.
