About this role

Responsibilities:

The Contracts Manager reports to the Project Director and will be responsible for formulating and implementing contracting strategies during the EPC phase of the project:

  • Administering the EPC contract in terms of progress payments, requests for changes, interpretations, administering contract changes and contract close out;
  • Development of contracting strategy and plan for the ongoing and future phases of the project;
  • Review and comment on EPC deliverables, such as contracting and sub-contracting plans, etc;
  • Ensure services and goods are contracted at competitive prices, while maintaining quality standards;
  • Input of practical advice into all aspects of the contracting aspect of EPC;
  • Review of POs including terms and conditions, cost, schedule, inspection, expediting, buy downs, etc;
  • Review of subcontracts including terms and conditions, cost, schedule and other contractual matters;
  • Aid in the formulation of the EPC contracts, analysis of funded liabilities, flow downs and other terms and conditions;
  • Aid in the negotiation and agreement of EPC contract terms and condition and advising on amounts for overall limit of liability, liquidated damages, etc;
  • Preparation of contractual mechanism for running the EPC contract including contract administration, handling of changes and the like;
  • Identify and measure project based risks, and develop strategies and negotiations for contractual issues that reduce such risks, involving Legal and other departments as appropriate.

About you

  • Bachelors’ Degree in a relevant discipline;
  • 10 + years’ experience in major EPC projects in the petroleum industry, with 5 years spent in a supervisory or management position;
  • Strong competence in LNG plant EPC contracts is required;
  • Experience in issuing correspondence, assessing changes and claims, analysis of progress and processing of invoices;
  • Experience in full cycle contracting - tendering, tender evaluation, clarification, negotiation, formation and execution of contracts and execution phase (robust and effective post award contract management and administration through to completion and close out);
  • Team player with proven management and leadership skills;
  • Demonstrated ability to prepare reports and presentations for senior management;
  • Demonstrated interpersonal/teambuilding skills;
  • Strong written and oral communication skills;
  • Ability to build relationships quickly in multi-disciplinary, multi-cultural, and multi-company environments;
  • Should possess strong negotiation skills, with a proven track record of negotiating strong terms and conditions for the Owners.

Additional Requirements:

  • Willing to see the project through to completion;
  • Visits to various work sites like module fabrication yards, FST conversion yard etc., as required.
