Lab Tech - Cement Lab

About this role

Seeking a Lab Technician for the ETC Business Unit. This position will sit in the Rocks and Fluids Characterization Unit, which falls under Reservoir and Production Engineering. The Lab Technician will work in the drill fluid and cement labs where they will have the opportunity to learn more about the Oil and Gas industry, specifically learn more on the cement and well testing of the Upstream Oil industry, as well as be mentored by experienced lab technicians.

• Safely conducts a variety of HTHP QA/QC tests on service company’s fluid designs to support ETC drilling operations worldwide;
• All inside lab work and the ability to lift between 40-50 lbs;
• Makes necessary adjustments to service company’s designs to meet project demands;
• Performs routine maintenance and calibrations on lab equipment to ensure testing reliability and accuracy;
• Maintains the lab chemical database;
• Works a flexible shift, covering weekends and Holidays. Will be required to work one weekend a month with another technician. Possible overtime work as well;
• Performs lab testing on cement and drilling fluids according to API and ISO testing methods (Thickening Time, Fluid Loss, Free Fluid, Rheology, Water Analysis/ Chemistries, etc);
• Performs compatibilities as needed on (Mud/Spacer/Cement);
• Performs other duties as requested by management or HES.

About you

Skills:

• Verbal and written communication skills, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills;
• Basic ability to work independently and manage one’s time;
• Basic ability to analyze data and accurately document and record results.

Education/Experience:

• 2-4 years’ experience required;
• Ideally looking for someone with 2-4 years of cement lab experience;
• High School Diploma/GED;
• Experience in an Oil/Gas Service company highly preferred;
• Experience in the following lab testing required: Thickening Time, Fluid Loss, Free Fluid, Rheology, Water Analysis/ Chemistries, etc.;
• Associate's or Bachelor's Degree preferred.
