Job description

  • Provide equipment layout, piping design, checking and isometric generation utilizing 3D Auto Cad Software (PDS,
    PDMS, AutoCAD, CADWorx);
  • Produce equipment arrangements;
  • Produce Piping plans and Sections;
  • Responsible for designs from initial concept through fabrication and commissioning;
  • Responsible for equipment and piping systems within a PDMS environment;
  • Conduct design reviews with project personnel;
  • Delegated responsibility and control budgets for delegated tasks;
  • Participate in PMT and client meetings;
  • Coordinate with vendors in regards to equipment packages;
  • Coordinate efforts between Greenfield and Brownfield scope of work.

About you

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in Piping Design (Upper Senior Piping Designer to Principal Piping Designer);
  • Ability to read and interpret P&IDs;
  • Ability to read and interpret Piping Isometrics;
  • Basic understand of Piping Material Specifications;
  • Basic understanding of Piping Stress Analysis;
  • Basic understanding of various Piping Pre-Engineered Supports (and how they work);
  • Basic understanding of various Piping Engineered Supports (and how they work);
  • Basic understanding of various instrumentation at site (and how they work);
  • General knowledge of various types of equipment at a refinery and how they work;
  • Minimum of 2 years of field experience (preferably as site construction support for Piping Design);
  • Ability to visually identify various types of piping fittings;
  • Ability to visualize how conceptual design (on paper) will fit into physical space available at site;
  • Ability to take field measurements of piping systems and equipment;
  • Ability to field sketch design (if required);
  • Ability to determine where to get data from at site (if required);
  • Knowledge of various construction methods;
  • Excellent safety awareness and practices;
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience using 3D CAD software (PDS, PDMS, AutoCAD, CADWorx);
  • If residency outside California must be available to relocate to Kansas for a time;
  • If residency in California must be available to on an evening / non core business hour schedule from Irvine, CA.
