Our client is currently undertaking a large expansion to
the West White Rose field and is searching for a Senior Claims Specialist to
join their team. The ideal candidate will have 10+ years experience in Claims
Resolution and Defense Management strategies in large complex construction
projects, ideally within the Canadian oil and gas industry.

About this role

  • Develop and lead the claim avoidance and defense
    management strategies, protecting Husky’s commercial interests;
  • Conduct thorough analysis and investigations necessary
    to determine claims exposure and proposes appropriate settlement strategies and
    action plans;
  • Handles claims consistent with Husky’s corporate
    policies, procedures and best practices and in accordance with any statutory,
    regulatory and ethical requirements;
  • In conjunction with Husky Legal supports the project
    team as Subject Matter Expert when dealing with contracts;
  • Supports the SCM Manager(s) and the Project Team with
    contract termination, claims or dispute settlements;
  • Review and evaluation of project documentation including
    contracts, specifications, drawings, schedules and various other documentation
    including meeting minutes, daily site reports, change orders, requests for
    information contemplated changes, etc.;
  • Discerning analysis of technical, schedule and cost
    issues;
  • Identification of root cause and responsibility,
    assessments of impact and quantum caused by disruptions, delays, changed
    conditions and circumstances to construction projects;
  • Preparation of reports and claims documentation to
    summarize and support findings.

About you

  • Degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering; OR
  • Degree in Cost Engineering; OR
  • Degree in Quantity Surveying;
  • 12+ years of Change Management, claim avoidance and
    defense experience with complex construction EPC/EPCM projects;
  • Ability to analyze contractual entitlement and
    accordingly determine defense obligations;
  • Solid understanding of claims processing and the
    construction business;
  • Skilled in analysis of change order requests and capital
    project documentation;
  • Proficient use and analysis of computer models and
    development of dynamic spreadsheet applications;
  • Experienced in conducting contract compliance audits;
  • Skilled in claims and schedule delay analysis;
  • Understanding of construction project schedules;
  • Experienced in cost estimation;
  • Master’s in Business Administration (M.B.A.);
  • Master of Laws or a degree in Alternative Dispute
    Resolution (ADR);
  • Ability to register as a P. Eng. in Canada;
  • Project Management Professional (PMP);
  • Background in oil and gas industry.
