Our client is searching for a Site Construction and
Marine Superintendent who will be reporting to our Construction Manager.

oversee site activities during marine construction phase.

About this role

Key responsibilities:

  • Assists
    in the preparation of the project schedule and follow the schedule;
  • Reviews the
    project plans and specifications and comment on the method of
    construction, scheduling, possible cost savings measures and potential
    construction problems;
  • Reviews,
    provide input and manages the budget;
  • Assembles
    the job site office and equipment requirements;
  • Contacts,
    schedules and coordinates, if any, all subcontractors, suppliers and
    utilities;
  • Monitors,
    maintains, and provide feedback to Construction Manager on project
    construction schedule on a weekly basis;
  • Raises
    and discusses relevant issues at the job site meetings;
  • Informs
    the Construction Manager of any errors, discrepancies or omissions
    contained within the Contractor’s Project execution;
  • Maintains
    a clean, secure and safe job site and ensures that the requirements of
    Work Safe BC and the Occupational Health and Safety Act are enforced;
  • Completes
    incident investigations, root cause analysis and prepare incident reports;
  • Coordinates
    and directs independent testing and inspections as required (mainly for
    environmental & regulatory issues);
  • Maintains
    and enforces good construction standards and quality control;
  • Controls
    and monitors Contractor’s labour, material and equipment expenses;
  • Measures
    disposal material quantities on a ground or on barges;
  • Coordinates
    all required municipal inspections;
  • Prepares
    and expedites project deficiency lists;
  • Runs and
    reports on weekly construction meetings.

About you

Requirements & Qualifications:

  • Minimum 6 years’ of proven Project Management experience in General site & Marine construction;
  • Current BC driver’s license;
  • Standard Occupational First Aid (training & certification preferred);
  • WHMIS 2015 (training & certification preferred);
  • Pleasure Craft Operator Card with marine basic first aid minimum requirement. Small Vessel Operator Proficiency with MEDA3 preferred;
  • Restricted Operator Course – Maritime (VHF radio) preferred;
  • Experience in management and safe handling of hazardous chemicals and materials;
  • Confined Space Entry (training & certification preferred);
  • Working at Heights (training & certification preferred);
  • Application of Lock Out Tag Out (training & certification preferred);
  • Proven overriding commitment to health, safety and environmental responsibility; 100% compliance with Company’s HSSE policies and guidelines;
  • Experience in working with safety management systems, including Job Hazardous analysis and Safe Work Procedures as per Work Safe BC regulations;
  • Software applications including Microsoft word, excel and outlook;
  • Proficiency in reading design and engineering drawings;
  • Physical capacity to fulfil active site role;
  • Flexible to shift work that can change depending on work shift coverage;
  • Punctual and able to work without supervision;
  • Takes initiative, is responsible, and has a strong work ethic;
  • Good communication skills and report writing ability;
  • Able to motivate teams and individuals;
  • Sets and manages performance standards for individuals.
