Job description

  • Measurement and Costing in accordance with the latest editions of “Methods of Measurement” published by the Canadian Institute of Quantity Surveyors;
  • Measurement and Costing in accordance with the latest editions of ASTM International Standards, including;
  • E2516-11 Standard Classification for Cost Estimate Classification System
  • E2514-15 Standard Practice for Presentation Format of Elemental Cost Estimates, Summaries, and Analyses
  • E1557-09(2015) Standard Classification for Building Elements and Related Site Work - UNIFORMAT II).
  • Required to assemble Cost reports;
  • Provide Scope / Budget Comparison (compare approved amounts with the current scope and budget amounts);
  • Provide a Description of the Elements Design Criteria based on Uniformat II Level 3 Elemental Summary;
  • Prepare Elemental Construction Cost Summary to ASTM 2516-11;
  • Prepare Trade Divisional Construction Cost Summary matching the project manual (typically latest CSI Masterformat);
  • Organize and Present Cost Details, including allocation of elements within the estimate, in ASTM E1557-09(2015) Standard Classification for Building Elements and Related Site Work - UNIFORMAT II to level 4 with detailed line items supported by quantities and current dollar unit price data;
  • Must be capable and competent in preparing cost estimates at the various stages of design, which include:
  • Planning and Pre – Design (functional program) (latest ASTM E2516-11, Class 5 minimum);
  • Schematic Design (latest ASTM E2516-11, Class 4 minimum);
  • Design Development (latest ASTM E2516-11, Class 3 minimum);
  • Contract Document Stage (latest ASTM E2516-11, Class 2 minimum);
  • Construction Document Stage (latest ASTM E2516-11, Class 1 minimum).
  • Must be able to organize and compare data sheets with each cost report;
  • Review and comment on project schedules and provide cash flow analysis which include schedule milestones noted for reporting;
  • Must be efficient in managing subcontract work package, soliciting budgetary pricing and integrating into overall project cost plans;
  • Will be required to assess and identify project risks, opportunities and provide reasonable recommendations related to design or execution methodology;
  • Will be required to conduct tender evaluations and provide cost control services during construction.

About you

  • QS Designation an asset;
  • Experience/Familiar with Canadian Institute of Quantity Surveyors and ASTM International standards;
  • 15+ years experience.

What we offer

  • Part time position - 240 hours over the next 6 months 
  • $40-$50/hr dependent on experience
