Job description

The mission of the Director, North American Technical Services is to ensure the technical quality of engineering design and deliverables including industrial performance from the estimation phase until the closure of the projects. The role is also responsible to provide technical expertise to the North American manufacturing sites.

Key aspects to achieve the job’s major purpose are:

  • Build an organization with enough geographic diversity to provide adequate resources across all sites.
  • Develop and maintain alignment for engineering methods and standards at site, regional and global levels.
  • Define interface between the new Manufacturing Technology Process Technology platform and Regional Technical Services.
  • Platform must have the ability to understand manufacturing systems at all sites.
  • Incumbent must have the ability to develop and maintain working relationships with project directors, site and global stakeholders.
  • Develop a well-defined technical engineering contractor resource plan





About you

  • Education/Certifications
  • Minimum B.S., Biochemical , Chemical or Mechanical Engineering .
  • Masters degree or professional certification desirable
  • Experience
  • Minimum 15 to 20 years professional experience in the pharma or biopharma industry
  • Major capital project management execution.
  • Significant experience in fermentation/bioreactors and/or typical separation & purification technology applications in biologicals manufacturing. Experience in filling, inspection and packaging applications in biologicals manufacturing is also required. Basic knowledge of process control & automation systems is desirable. Demonstrated ability to achieve results within an international corporate environment. Demonstrated success leading and coaching technical teams to achieve desired technical results. Proficient in engineering analysis and methods.
  • Skills key specific to the function:
  • Functional Management of technical engineers
  • Working engineering knowledge of vaccine manufacturing equipment
  • Knowledge of Project Best Practices or Engineering Stage Gate Process
  • Execution of large capital projects including resource competency requirements
  • Engineering methods and analysis
  • Develop a well-defined technical engineering contractor resource plan
