position is accountable to provide field-based technical, engineering, quality
management, design and documentation services for two of our client's
generating facilities to help achieve operational goals and help maintain
technical compliance with the applicable internal and external requirements.
Develop, implement, and manage a 1-2 year business plan in alignment with
senior management's business plan.

About this role

Accountable
for developing, implementing, and managing the 1-2 year technical support
program and delivering the agreed results. This includes adapting departmental
plans and priorities to address resource and operational challenges;

Accountable
to coordinate and communicate the resolution of significant technical issues
arising from detrimental operating conditions and equipment conditions;

Accountable
to develop, implement, and manage the equipment and system risk assessments and
condition assessments process

Accountable
to develop and manage technical support for projects, turnarounds, and forced
outages;

Accountable
to provide technical input into the asset management process to ensure risk
assessments and equipment condition assessments informs the Long Range
Technical Plan;

Accountable
to develop, implement, and manage the technical documentation management
program;

Accountable
to develop, implement, and manage the engineering design program for all
engineering design work completed internally and externally;

Accountable
to develop, recommend, implement, and manage operating procedures, policies,
and standards;

Accountable
to develop and manage a high performance team of Supervisors and Professionals
that provide day-to-day and diagnostic; technical support for operations and
maintenance for the full inventory of power plant equipment and systems,
delegating them appropriate; deliverables (e.g. of up to 3 – 12 months) and
holding them accountable for delivery. This includes building bench strength;

Accountable
to manage and provide applicable context and prescribed limits for developing
individuals;

Accountable
for developing, implementing, and managing the 1-2 year safety and compliance
training program for all direct reports;

Accountable
to provide engineering support to ensure the facility can operate and be
maintained safely and in compliance within; company ;policies, procedures,
standards, regulatory and legal requirements, and collective agreements (ABSA
regulations, NERC, AESO, Safety Codes Act);

Accountable
to develop and manage the engineering budget for functional area;

Accountable
to build organizational alignment (e.g. positions, accountabilities and
authorities, people, deliverables, tasks);

Accountable
to think critically about the business and support continuous development;

Accountable
to contribute to strong business cases;

Accountable
to provide input to industry standards and guidelines, when relevant;

Accountable
to lead the investigation of and complete RCFAs for equipment failures in
responsible areas;

Accountable
to proactively compile trends of equipment data and recommend action to prevent
future failures of problematic equipment across the plant.

About you

APEGA
P.Eng status (or eligibility);

Knowledge
of the practices and processes associated with project management, project
engineering, and engineering design in the power generation industry;

People
leader with 10+ years progressive experience in function with minimum 2 years
leadership experience; may possess an undergraduate degree, diploma or
equivalent experience;

In-depth
understanding of concepts, theories, and principles in own discipline and basic
knowledge of other disciplines;

Strong
awareness of the technical aspects of the operation under accountability;

Change
management theory and practices;

Understand
the AB Coal Organization and corporate engineering technical support
organization;

Demonstrated
knowledge and experience working in a power generation facility or a large
integrated process plant;

Understand
and apply the policies, procedures, standards, regulatory and legal
requirements that apply to the power generation business in Alberta (OHS Act,
APEGA, AESO) and the collective agreement;

Financial
knowledge to develop, implement, and manage financial budget for functional
area and to complete financial/economic assessments and asset life cycle
planning;

Capability
to develop, implement, and manage a 1-2 year functional area business plan, including
the related budget;

Capability to understand
and articulate complex technical issues to both a technical and non-technical
audience.
